Ground Breaking Transportation System that is a Fraction of the Cost of the Current Government’s Exp

Niagara Falls, On. Premier Doug Ford has unveiled a new transportation system which was promised during the spring election campaign. Recently, Ford says his “government will deliver on its pledge to create a regional transportation system, but will first consult with Toronto and other municipalities in the area”.

The Toronto Transit Commission has done well in operating the system but he believes others can build subways more efficiently. The Progressive Conservative election platform proposed to upload responsibility for building and maintaining new and existing subway lines to the province, while allowing the city to operate the subway system and keep the revenue it generates.

Transportation Minister John Yakabuski met with Toronto Mayor John Tory earlier this week but the mayor says no such plan was presented Tory said Wednesday any proposal on control of the TTC must be subjected to “robust consultation” with the public and the transit agency as well as city staff and council before decisions are made.

At the cost of approximately $900 million dollars and over a 25-year period, the cost of sky rail which would hypothetically connect the GTA to surrounding suburbs, thereby bypassing the Gardiner Expressway would be a very costly endeavor, given the rate of inflation and political controversy with the implementation of such a costly system.

At a fraction of the cost, Aerial Drone Passenger transport systems could be introduced into the GTA, which would transport travellers by robotic controlled aerial drones (similar to the Amazon packaging delivery system). Drone Transportations Airways Inc. is a new start-up created by Bob G.P. Yiurselv which employs approximately 120 University of Waterloo graduates in computer engineering and robotics. Successful transportation of travellers flying at very high speeds were recently tested, where humans being strapped to flying drones travelled approximately 1km to different destinations. Mr. Yurselv indicated, that the cost of travel, assuming that the infrastructure itself is at a fraction of the cost of purchasing a SkyTrain and vehicle (car or bus).

We analyzed the cost of transporting a commuter from two different points using these aforementioned methods and found that the cost was at 1/1000th of the cost associated with the new governments plans of new transport and/or retrofitting old infrastructure.

Dronthusiast Inc. currently has a drone which can lift payloads of approximately 1000kgs, along with the U.S. Military which carries a drone which can lift 3 ballistics Missiles (over 3000 lbs- 980 lbs each) has proven that the accuracy of transporting payloads can easily be achieved given our current technology. Premier Doug Ford has not indicated if he will consider such a transport system but given his unprecedented willingness to cut government expenditures, there could be a possibility in such a cost-effective solution to the GTA’s planned transportation system. Municipal. Provincial and federal governments has all shown interest in the aerial drone transport systems.
